Trinity Episcopal Cathedral
Outreach
This is how we do Christ's work.

Episco Pride
Become a member of our Episco Pride Committee! Each year, we come together to set up a booth at the QC Pride Fest, and we also conduct Safe Zone Training Sessions annually at the Cathedral.
These sessions provide an opportunity to:
-
Explore LGBTQ+ identities, gender, and sexuality
-
Reflect on prejudice, assumptions, and privilege
Through these trainings, we aim to enhance awareness and understanding of LGBTQIA+ experiences and highlight the importance of creating inclusive environments.
Tapestry Farms
Tapestry Farms helps refugees rebuild their lives by accessing resources already available in the Quad Cities. It operates a nonprofit urban farm system. Refugees and volunteers work together to grow produce and flowers on plots of land throughout the Quad Cities. Produce is distributed to those with limited resources, sold monthly through a subscription program, or sold at the local Quad
Cities Farmers’ Market at 18 th St. and 2 nd Ave. in Rock Island.
Ways to Volunteer (regular or occasional):
The Tapestry Farms office is located in the Trinity Cathedral building, so our members are encouraged to invest in their support of refugees. You can donate money, time, or needed household supplies (the latter are also collected in baskets at the rear of the sanctuary). To volunteer, please visit this page at their website and fill out a form: https://www.tapestryfarms.org/volunteer-form.

P.U.N.C.H
People Uniting Neighbors and Churches

The mission of PUNCH is to engage in work and service projects for the neighborhood of Brady Hill. It partners with churches, neighbors, and city leaders to effect an improvement in the PUNCH neighborhood. It also partners with local organizations such as the Salvation Army and The Center.
Ways to Volunteer (regular or occasional):
-
Blessing Box: Volunteers sign up to help with the yearly Blessing Box drive, usually held on Martin Luther King Day. Donations for Blessing Box (paper products and supplies for laundry, cleaning, and personal hygiene), can also be dropped off throughout the year at First Baptist Church, 1401 N Perry St., or Third Missionary Baptist Church, 222 West 14th St., in Davenport. These supplies are given away on Saturday mornings at J.B. Young Center.
-
Community Gardens: Located near the above two church properties and two other locations. For information on ways to help (such as planting), visit the PUNCH website.
-
Easter Egg Hunt: The Saturday before Easter, Trinity and other churches provide volunteers for setup/cleanup and two prizes for our age group—a tricycle/small bicycle and an Easter basket.
-
Foster Graduation Party: (May/June) Volunteers may donate gifts and gather to celebrate students aging out of foster care.
-
Memorial to the Lost: Names are displayed on T-shirts at PUNCH churches to honor those in the community lost to gun violence. Trinity provides volunteers to move the display when it is our turn to host it.
-
Thanksgiving Free Community Dinner: (November) There is a volunteer signup list at Trinity to help provide and serve food for this event.
Churches United
Churches United brings together a group of Quad City area churches to help feed the hungry and offer emergency assistance to those in crisis. Congregations help serve free hot and nourishing meals to hungry people in the Quad Cities, help them access social services and housing assistance.
Members of Trinity Cathedral cook and serve one meal (at Zion Lutheran Church) on the third Monday of alternate months.
Ways to Volunteer (occasional):
-
Shop for and/or prepare food items at home (such as chopping vegetables, baking cookies). Bring items to the kitchen at the Cathedral the Sunday before the Monday meal date.
-
Help prepare the meal in the Cathedral kitchen on the Monday meal date (1-2 hours starting at noon).
-
Help transport and serve the meal at Zion Lutheran Church, 1216 W. 8th St., Davenport. Meet at the Cathedral at 4:30 p.m. on meal date, travel to Zion Lutheran, and serve meal (1-1½ hours).

The Outreach Committee
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.”
Matthew 25:35
Outreach Committee Mission Statement
Guided by Christ’s example, Trinity Cathedral’s Outreach Committee commits to serving our neighbors through compassionate action and faithful witness. Our goal is to empower Trinity members to share their time, talents, and resources with those in need locally, nationally, and globally.
We are entrusted with an annual budget by Trinity Cathedral. Each year the committee chooses a primary category of need to focus on. We also donate to local or traditional recipients such as the Center Food Pantry, P.U.N.C.H., Churches United, our sister diocese of Nzara in South Sudan, and disaster aid funds.
Outreach Committee Meetings:
Meetings are held via Zoom at 6 PM on the second Tuesday of the month. Everyone is welcome to join us for one meeting or all of them. For more information please email the current chairperson, Margery Franklin, at: mhfranklin8620@gmail.com.

Crop Hunger Walk
No one should experience hunger in our world. That's the CROP Hunger Walk represents more than just an annual event; it's a 55-year-long movement fueled by caring individuals in over 500 communities throughout the U.S. year, Trinity assembles a team to join this nationwide initiative aimed at feeding the hungry and ensuring access to clean drinking water. The funds raised are allocated both locally and globally.
