Welcome to The Rev. Brandon Haynes
Trinity Cathedral is pleased to announce that The Rev. Brandon Haynes has accepted the call to serve as the next Dean of Trinity Cathedral. Following a prayerful search process, we are excited to welcome Fr. Brandon to our cathedral community and look forward to the gifts he will bring to our shared ministry.
A letter from your new Dean
Dear members of Trinity Cathedral,
Grace and peace to you. My name is Brandon, and I am humbled and overjoyed to be coming to you as your new Dean. I write this letter not as someone who will arrive with all the answers, but as a fellow pilgrim who believes, with the Apostle Paul, that there is only one thing worth knowing — Jesus Christ, and him crucified and risen.

I come from Arkansas. I grew up in a place where the Delta meets the Ozarks, where the land is honest and the people are direct, where faith is shaped at kitchen tables and front porches as much as in sanctuaries. Arkansas formed me with its red clay soil, its rivers, its churches, its stories. I carry all of that with me, and I am eager to learn what Iowa and the Mississippi, and
this Cathedral will add to the forming.
I come curious. I come hungry to listen and to hear the stories that live in these walls, to learn the rhythms of your common life, to understand what God has already been doing among you long before I arrived. Ministry, I have come to believe, is not something a priest does to a congregation. It is something we undertake together, attentive to the Holy Spirit who moves where she will and calls us further than any of us would dare go alone.
I believe in the beauty of this tradition we share — its liturgy, its sacraments, its comprehensiveness, its willingness to hold ancient faith in conversation with a complex world. I believe in the Cathedral's particular vocation to be a house of prayer for all people, a gathering
place where the stranger is welcomed and the seeker finds a home. I look forward to exploring together what that calling means for Trinity in this moment, in this city, along this river.
In the weeks ahead, I hope to sit with as many of you as possible — over coffee, after worship, in your homes and workplaces — simply to listen and to learn. I will make mistakes. I will have much to discover. And, I promise you this: I will show up with my whole heart, I will preach Christ faithfully, and I will regard the work we do together as sacred.
Finally, I'm praying for you, please pray for me.
I am so very glad to be on my way to you. With every best wish, I am
Faithfully yours,
Brandon+
